Lamoulère

Local interest at Lamoulère starts right here on the doorstep. Our 20 acres of landscaped gardens, natural woodland and soft pastures are ideal for gentle strolls (we have our own woodland trail), and for painting, bird watching and frequent sightings of the beautiful wild deer that are
a feature of the locale.

Just five minutes away from Lamoulère, sitting regally on top of a steep hillside is the 12th century medieval bastide village of Lauzerte, offering commanding views of the surrounding countryside.

Founded by Raymond of Toulouse, the village is extremely well preserved with its magnificent church and delightful arcaded square which hosts the lively Saturday morning market.

There are many charming restaurants and bars in Lauzerte from which you can relax and just ‘people watch’.

During July and August, the weekly gourmet markets with many stallholders serving delicious food in the square is a perfect way to spend a long balmy summer evening.

Lauzerte is also a noted stopping point for those taking the route through the Pyrénées on the famous Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage.

Also of Local Interest:

  • The swimming lakes at nearby Montcuq and Montaigu de Quercy, complete with their inland beaches. We would be delighted to provide a picnic hamper with wine or champagne for a different day out.
  • Boat trips on the vast River Lot at Cahors, with its famous Pont de Valentre spanning the river. Really well worth a visit as is the bustling city of Cahors itself.
  • A huge number of vineyards in both the Cahors and Gaillac regions, all offering wine tastings and the opportunity to buy at bargain prices. We can organise and escort visits to the local vineyards.
  • A stunningly located 9 hole golf course within 15 minutes’ drive away, challenging but tranquil!
